Although the 2020 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup has come to an end, FACH AUTO TECH has not yet finished its motorsport season. In conjunction with the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, the Sattel-based team will be competing with two young drivers, Joey Mawson and Diego Bertonelli. Opening event of the German one-make series is on 18 and 19 September and runs under the 24 Hours of Le Mans flag.
“This year we’re participating in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland to provide our young talents with another platform for achieving their potential”, says Team Principal Alex Fach, talking about the plans. “Joey and Diego have already proved their abilities in the past and now we aim to take the next step together and fight for podiums and the championship in a strong field of contestants.”
Australian Mawson brings international one-make series experience with him – 2019 saw the 24-year-old on the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup grid, clinching several Rookie podiums as well as a top 3 position in the overall rankings.
Bertonelli from Italy has also clocked up his first Supercup laps and absolved a guest appearance for Alex Fach’s team at this year’s final in Monza. A ninth place was immediate proof of the 22-year-old’s talent.
The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland kickoff promises to be a real highlight of the season and runs as a support race to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. It will be the first of a total of eleven championship races and further events will be part of the ADAC GT Masters, consisting of two to three races per weekend.
Schedule in France will be tight with both Free Practices plus Qualifying taking place on Friday. The race starts on Saturday, 19 September, at 9:15 and SPORT1 will be broadcasting live on TV.
