FACH AUTO TECH START-TO-FINISH VICTORY IN MONZA

The championship of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup comes down the stretch and FACH AUTO TECH still has big chances to achieve the title. For the Porsche team of Sattel in central Switzerland Matteo Cairoli has shortened the gap to championship leader Sven Müller while the Swiss Philipp Frommenwiler made up top 9th after a sensational comeback.

Matteo Cairoli (I), #7: Matteo Cairoli has left no doubt: The Royal Park of Monza is a kind of his snuggery. The young Italian in the service of FACH AUTO TECH has won the national Carrera Cup in May at the same place. Now, on Friday he was already at the top of the ranking in free practice and burned the pole position into the traditional high-speed asphalt on Saturday afternoon. He skipped past Michael Ammermüller by a gap of half a second.

“It’s something special to be in the forefront, just here on my home course. Thanks to the team, the car is perfect. Tomorrow I’m also racing for the enthusiastic spectators in the stands,” reported the 20-year-old after qualifying.

On Sunday morning the youngster beat Michael Ammermüller due to an excellent start, Matteo Drudi and Sven Müller were on the following places. Two safety car periods barred the Porsche junior to expand the lead. Nevertheless he brought off the triumph on home soil.

“During the race it was hardly possible not to perceive this phenomenal audience. This is certainly my most emotionally win.” said Matteo Cairoli after crossing the finish line. He has been moved up to a wafer-thin distance of two points on the head of the standings now and before the final race in Texas.

Philipp Frommenwiler (CH), #6: After the involuntary drop out in Spa Francorchamps, the team around Philipp Frommenwiler had repaired in short space of time the numer #6 Porsche. But after the first laps of the 27-year-old the crew looked blank. Despite perfect rounds the Kreuzlinger qualified no better than thirteen.

By analysing it was clear: The machine needs to get out. Until morning the FACH Crew was busy on the racing car and before the race on Sunday Philipp Frommenwiler reported: “My mechanics have replaced the engine at night – a mega-job of the whole team and a big thank. It’s time for a comeback!”

As his teammates in front of the field, also the second FACH-pilot managed a perfect start. Even after one lap he had made up for two positions and was listed as eleventh. In the few rounds without a safety car and at race pace he maneuvered his now 460 hp strong Porsche 911 GT3 Cup into top 10 and finished on ninth place.

Alex Fach was pleased with the performance of his protégé: “Philipp has done well. Too bad he Saturday has failed during the qualifying. Today he has set the fourth fastest time of all competitors. In this performance he definitely is ripe for a podium finish.” And concerning the effort of his team, he added: “We are riding on a wave of success in which everyone is involved here The sense of togetherness is very special.”

The final points and trophies of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup are going to be distributed after a short pause on 23rd of October. The heroes of the fastest Porsche brand trophy series say farewell season 2016 in Austin (USA).
