After a successful motorsport year in 2016, the Fach Auto Tech team starts this year’s Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season with three drivers. The team from Sattel, Switzerland consists of drivers Matt Campbell, Josh Webster and Glauco Solieri and they are aiming to build on the previous four years’ achievements.
Together with his team Fach Auto Tech, team boss Alex Fach is tackling the fifth Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season. In addition to the 2014 driver and rookie classification win and runner-up title in the 2016 driver and team championship, the ambitious motorsport racers have celebrated numerous victories and podium successes in international Porsche brand trophy racing since their 2012 debut. For the first time, the team is starting the new season with a three driver line-up in order to continue its success story.
“We would like to welcome our three new drivers Matt Campbell, Josh Webster and Glauco Solieri on board”, Alex Fach announced. “I’m convinced our latest team members have great potential and I’m very much looking forward to working together. Porsche Junior Matt Campbell comes as a huge motorsport talent to join the driver squad. He most recently demonstrated his skills during the Bathurst 12 Hours, where he not only took the class win but also an overall second. He may be relatively unknown outside his native Australia, but that will soon change in 2017. I’m quite sure he will quickly feel confident in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, even if the racing calendar’s circuits are a completely new experience for him.”
Drivers Josh Webster and Glauco Solieri’s accomplishments have also convinced Alex Fach:”Josh Webster won the 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain and has already gained initial Supercup know-how with guest starts. I think he’ll be tough competition for the seasoned drivers. And Glauco Solieri too has a lot of experience. Over the last two years, he’s shown some great performances in the Porsche brand cups. We hope we can support his development as a racing driver.”
In addition to taking on three new drivers, the Fach Auto Tech team will encounter a further special feature in 2017. The newly developed Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will be racing for the first time this season and as Alex Fach’s team has specialized in Porsche cars, anticipation of the new model is particularly strong. “We just love trying out new technology. Above all, with new racing cars, it quickly becomes apparent how well a team functions. A new car means testing new methods and techniques. And we’re extremely good at that”, says the team boss.
Start of the season’s first race is scheduled for May 14th on the Spanish Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. About a month beforehand, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2017 teams will meet outside Barcelona’s city gates for the official test of the season.
