In Belgian Spa-Francorchamps, FACH AUTO TECH was preparing itself for the coming Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season. New drivers Matt Campbell, Josh Webster and Glauco Solieri had a first opportunity to thoroughly check their new cars and put them through their paces.
FACH AUTO TECH spent two days getting to know the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on the classic Belgian circuit. “The time in Spa was simply amazing”, said team boss Alex Fach. “All cars functioned right from the start and after just a few trial laps, our times were really good.”
Main objective was creating a foundation for the coming season and the team, drivers and mechanics had the chance to familiarize themselves for the first time with the new Cup Porsche. “By the end of the first day, we were very impressed. Nobody thought we’d make such fast progress with the new car”, Alex Fach summed up. “We were much faster than with the previous model. Porsche has definitely created the perfect basis for the new season.”
Team boss Alex Fach is especially pleased with the progress made by his three youngsters. Each driver had an independent approach, but integrated smoothly into the team. “Matt went about things meticulously and was on the lookout for improvement after each lap. He reminds me of a young Earl Bamber. Glauco too felt very much at ease and used the two days to significantly step up his performance. And Josh really amazed me. His work in the cockpit was very impressive and as it turned out, he always keeps the team laughing, even during the toughest test work.”
Further trial runs are scheduled for the coming weeks in Belgium, before the season’s first race in Barcelona from 12th – 14th May. “I feel optimistic after this first test session,” said Fach. “I think we’re on the right road and we’ll be making an important contribution again this year.”
