FACH AUTO TECH IMPRESSES IN WINTERY CONDITIONS

FACH AUTO TECH travelled to the first round of the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse at the Red Bull Ring with a total of ten cars. The team, based in Sattel, didn’t let the wintery conditions affect performance and fought for race wins throughout the weekend.

Thursday and Friday saw some free practice sessions cancelled due to snow fall, while on Saturday heavy rainfall enveloped the track and made for extremely difficult conditions. In spite of this, FACH AUTO TECH began Saturday’s race from the second row of the grid in category four in their Cayman GT4. Marco Zolin lost two positions in the early stages of the race, but soon clawed themselves back to fourth place. In the end he scored the fastest lap of the race, but the team just missed out on a podium and had to settle for fourth.

The team’s performance in category 7a was just as impressive, with Porsche Supercup driver Glauco Solieri taking pole position and fighting for the victory right up to the death. However, after a frantic conclusion to the race, the Italian driver finished in second position. On Sunday, Peter Hegglin was one of the stand-out performers in his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. Hegglin began his first Cup-Race from last on the grid, but mastered the wet conditions and secured a podium after a fantastic drive. In the PDC field Martin Schneider scored the victory in the regularity test.

“The weather sprung a few surprises on us, but we rose to the challenge and fought victories,” said team manager Alex Fach. “Our Supercup drivers Matt and Josh were also on hand throughout the weekend to provide some valuable driver coaching. The atmosphere in the team was just awesome and everyone worked really hard. I can’t wait for the next round!”
