Josh Webster’s Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup performance in Silverstone brought him fifth place and his best result of the season to date. The British FACH AUTO TECH driver had already made a strong impression during qualifying and run a third-fastest time. Team mate Matt Campbell finished the U.K. race seventh and was also able to collect valuable team championship points.
“I have mixed feelings after this race”, says Josh Webster looking back and adding: ”On the one hand, I’m happy about fifth place, taking me a step forwards, but then again if you start from third position on home ground, you want to make it onto the podium. But I’m still leaving Silverstone feeling positive and I’m convinced reaching my first podium will only be a matter of time.”
Webster lost his chance of a Silverstone Top 3 at the start. The 23-year-old fell back one position during the first metres and then duelled with team mate Matt Campbell. Throughout the race, the Australian driving the sister car was continuously involved in numerous duels and finally took the chequered flag in seventh place.
Glauco Solieri claimed fourth in the B-classification and so all three FACH AUTO TECH drivers won points in Silverstone. Team manager Alex Fach was satisfied with the result. “We couldn’t tie up with the Spielberg win, but got the most out of what was possible. Josh performed really well and Matt was also in fighting spirit on his Silverstone premiere.”
From 28th – 30th July, the race weekend in Budapest begins the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup’s second half-season.
