FACH AUTO TECH will be travelling to Central America for the last Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race weekend. The Sattel team starts for the first time at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez and begins a venture into the unknown. The 4,3 kilometre circuit in Mexico-City is on the Porsche brand cup calendar for the first time ever and will be new territory for all teams and drivers.
Despite the challenging initial situation, the Swiss are optimistic about their debut in Mexico City. Preparation for the last two races of the season has been especially tricky, because there is no experience-based data available from previous years.
“In all races, we can normally profit from previous years’ experience, optimally coordinate setups and run test drives”, team manager Alex Fach explains. “But the situation in Mexico is completely new. The track is very special and places an entirely different demand on the vehicles and we can only make a rough guess about adjusting to it. In particular, the 1,5 kilometre long straight requires a setup, that can’t be compared with any other circuit.”
Help is at hand from the two former drivers Earl Bamber and Matteo Cairoli, who started on the Mexico circuit during the World Endurance Championship and shared their valuable experiences with the team.
“We’ve been very thorough, used every kind of opportunity to prepare ourselves and now hope that our precision pays off. Exchanging information with Earl and Matteo was of enormous value and we’re aiming for a Top Five result with Josh and Matt. And we’re also looking for another podium finish with Glauco in the B classification.”
Saturday 28th October sees the start of the season’s tenth race at 22:10 (CEST) followed by the final a day later on Sunday at 17:15.
