There couldn’t be a better ending! With two race wins and a third place in the B-classification, FACH AUTO TECH concludes an eventful Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season. The triple win at the Mexican Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez premiere marks the best result of the year for the Sattel team.
After starting from second on the grid in Saturday’s race, Matt Campbell grabbed the lead from the pole setter before reaching the first corner and from this point on, did not surrender the lead. At the end of the race, he confidently secured his fourth win of the season in the world’s fastest brand cup.
Josh Webster was involved in impressive wheel-to-wheel battles, crossed the finish line in seventh place and collected further championship points. Team mate Glauco Solieri also stood out in the Saturday race with his impressive passing manoeuvres. The Swiss driver succeeded in moving up ten postions within 16 laps and then clinched third place in the B-classification.
Matt Campbell started from pole position in the final race on Sunday. The 22-year-old defended himself lap by lap against all attack attempts by his adversaries and went on to secure the second win of the weekend. The former Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Josh Webster also delivered a great performance in the season’s final race and with a fourth place only just missed a spot on the podium.
“I’m more than satisfied with the weekend’s results”, said a happy Matt Campbell and added:” It’s great to be able to end the year with two wins. I couldn’t be happier with my first Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season. This is how it should continue next year!”
Team manager Alex Fach too, was visibly pleased with his team’s performance.” Our intensive preparation has paid off. Clinching the win twice on a completely unfamiliar circuit has proved we’ve done everything right. I’m really thrilled for Matt, who could top his season once again. And Glauco and Josh also deserve great praise for their fantastic performance in the finale.”
