Fighting performance in Spielberg

FACH AUTO TECH continues being chased in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Despite difficult conditions in the season’s third race in Spielberg, the Sattel squad clocked up valuable championship points and Briton Nick Yelloly’s powerful catch-up reduced the gap to the driver standings leader.

“After quite a few setbacks, we got the most out of it”, concludes team boss Alex Fach. “Actually, the Red Bull Ring is one of our favourite tracks and we’ve been very successful on it, but this time it was particularly difficult and we have to be satisfied with the outcome.”

Nick Yelloly finished fifth in the race and collected twelve points for the driver class, making the best of things after a disappointing qualifying. “Free practice and the qualifying start went extremely well and I held my own at the front, unfortunately we couldn’t step up after the second tyre change and had to tackle the race from eighth position”, said Yelloly.

The winner of the Monaco Supercup race remained steadfast and stormed impressively back into the race. One of the crucial scenes showed him overtaking points’ leader Michael Ammermüller, whose advantage over Yelloly in the overall standings shrank yet again. After three races, the FACH AUTO TECH driver is now only three points behind the reigning champion.

Yelloly wasn’t the only one in Austria who wowed the large crowd with spectacular passes. Teammate Jaap van Lagen too delivered an enthralling pursuit on the 4,3 kilometre rollercoaster. A form error by the Dutchman during practice excluded him from qualifying and he was forced to tackle the race from the rear. Starting from 32nd position, the stalwart steadily ploughed forwards lap after lap and finished 16th, which added a further point to the account.

Christof Langer had to make do with fifth place in the Pro-Am class, after his third in Barcelona and second in Monaco.
The FACH AUTO TECH crew travels directly from Austria to the next race weekend in Silverstone on 6th – 8th July.
