Pole position, fastest race lap and an impeccable start-finish-victory: After two disappointing weekends, Nick Yelloly and FACH AUTO TECH have made a stunning comeback. This season’s second race success has enabled the Brit to reduce the gap to the standings lead by four points. Team mate Jaap van Lagen collected further valuable points for the team championship.
“Nick’s win means such a lot”, said Alex Fach, visibly moved. “Our team has taken a terrible battering over the last few weeks and being able to stand at the top again and celebrate this triumph together is fantastic. I’d like to thank the entire crew. Everyone has done a brilliant job and contributed to this success.”
Nick Yelloly laid the victory foundations on the Hockenheimring during qualifying and posted a perfect timing with his team. While the track was drying off, the Brit turned a last-minute fastest lap and secured pole position.
Team colleague Jaap van Lagen delivered an impressive catch-up in Hockenheim, much to the delight of the many Dutch fans. Starting from 12th on the grid, the 41-year-old pushed his way forwards with hard-fought manoeuvres and saw the chequered flag in eighth place.
Christof Langer made a big impression in Hockenheim and particularly during qualifying. Starting from 21st position, the amateur driver left ten competitors behind him and demonstrated one of his best Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup performances. However, the 51-year-old was out of luck in the race, when a spin ruined his chances of a good ProAm class result.
Alex Fach and his team’s brilliant victory was a real boost for the second half of the season. “We’re taking this momentum with us to Budapest, where we’ll be in a week’s time”, said the team boss. “It’s now important we don’t rest on our laurels. The previous weeks have shown we must get everything spot on to retain our good chances in the title fight.”
