The half-time break was only brief: Just one week after the impressive start-to-finish victory for Nick Yelloly, FACH AUTO TECH is in action once again in Hungary. The British driver is looking to build on his victory last time out, while Jaap van Lagen is targeting a return to the top five.
Nick Yelloly is aiming for the title in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Hot on the heels of his victory at the Hockenheimring, the 27-year-old is now just five points behind the championship leader Michael Ammermüller. After a strong start to the season, Jaap van Lagen and Christof Langer have had a number of issues to contend with in recent races. They will be looking for a slice of good luck in Hungary.
“We need to make sure we carry the momentum and positive energy from Hockenheim over to Budapest”, said the Team Principal Alex Fach. “We have a clear aim for this weekend: fight for the win. It should be an interesting race – the weather in Hungary is always something to keep an eye on. The forecast suggests we will have thunderstorms on each day. That being said, the circuit is really challenging even in the dry. We need to come up with an excellent strategy, because overtaking at the tight and twisty Hungaroring is really difficult.”
A race with a long tradition
The Hungaroring circuit near the Hungarian capital of Budapest has been a permanent fixture of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup since 1993. Formula 1 has been racing in Hungary since 1986.
Known as the “Shallow Plate,” the circuit offers all spectators an excellent view of the race action. The circuit is located in a valley but the grandstands are built on the surrounding hills, allowing fans to see up to 80% of the circuit from a single vantage point.
The race in Hungary begins at 12:45 pm on Sunday 29 July. Eurosport 1 will be broadcasting the race live on TV. It will be repeating the programme on the same channel at 1:00 am on 1 August, with further repeats on Eurosport 2 at 11:00 am and 2:30 pm.
