The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup round from 24 to 26 August will be an exciting one. FACH AUTO TECH will be driving on one of the world’s most attractive, but also difficult circuits: Spa-Francorchamps. Jaap van Lagen has got his eye on another podium and Nick Yelloly is doing his utmost to close the gap to the top of the table.
After the podium finish in Hungary, Jaap van Lagen is yearning for another podium position. The Dutchman overcame a bit of a dry spell in Budapest and now feels well-prepared for the fight for the top spots.
However, teammate Nick Yelloly has set his sights on the title and his big goal in Belgium is to take the championship lead. Having absolved six races in the season, the Brit is now just three points behind the frontrunner. FACH AUTO TECH driver Christof Langer is aiming for top positions in the Pro Am classification.
“The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is a hell of a demanding track. A strong driving performance plays a major role and our drivers are well-equipped in that respect”, says an optimistic team boss Alex Fach. “The team’s aiming to play in the big league again!”
The Spa-Francorchamps track is one of the most tradition-steeped on the race calendar and its famous corners such as Eau Rouge, Radillon or La Source plus the differences in altitude make the seven kilometer “Ardennes Roller Coaster” a major challenge for every driver. In addition to the circuit conditions, the changeable weather also
represents an unknown factor.
Focus on mechanics
While drivers always take centre stage, the race mechanics usually work in the background. However, their commitment and skills are just as vital for top results as the drivers’. Racecam talked to FACH AUTO TECH “grease monkey” Arno Samimi and received some very interesting insights into the world of a Supercup mechanic. You can read the full interview online.
The lights turn green for the Belgium race on Sunday 26 August at 12:05 and it can be followed live on Eurosport player and on Eurosport 1 from 11:45.
