The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season starts its 27th season in Barcelona from 10 to 12 May. FACH AUTO TECH has been part of the international brand trophy since 2013 and will be competing in 2019 with three newcomers. Florian Latorre, Jaxon Evans and Kantadhee Kusiri will be at the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in Barcelona. After the vice championship in 2018, the aim is perfectly clear – rejoining this year’s fight for the title.
FACH AUTO TECH is now firmly established in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and renowned for training young drivers with far-reaching success. Former drivers such as Earl Bamber or Nick Yelloly have all moved on after their season with the Sattel-based squad to become Porsche or BMW works drivers. Brit Nick Yelloly and the crew celebrated the vice championship in 2018 and team manager Alex Fach has again set his sights on winning the 2019 title with the young trio Latorre/Evans/Kusiri.
“We’ve been able to attract three young, but highly talented drivers”, Fach commented before the season opener. “Florian is already familiar with the Supercup and notched up successes there. Jaxon and Kantadhee have also demonstrated their skills – Jaxon most recently in the Carrera Cup Deutschland season opener at the beginning of May.”
Florian Latorre is the reigning Supercup Rookie champion and Jaxon Evans from New Zealand comes from the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup to join the Swiss team. Evans has already gained first European experience in the German version of the brand trophy on 4 and 5 May and also secured his first podium. He was supported at the Hockenheimring by team manager, Alex Fach and partner Project 1. Kantadhee Kusiri took part in the Thailand Super Series in 2018 and together with Florian Latorre he drove his first race kilometres for the Porsche team in the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse at the end of April.
FACH AUTO TECH is also supporting Project 1 with additional cars for the first time in the 2019 Supercup season. The Lohne-based squad is an integral part of the Porsche brand trophies and also well known for its comprehensive and successful promotion of young talents.
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season is traditionally opened in Barcelona as part of the Formula 1 programme. The race weekend begins with Free Practice on Friday, 10 May at 18:45 and Sunday’s race is scheduled for 12:45. Eurosport 1 will be broadcasting the race live on TV.
