The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race in Monaco once again proved to be a happy hunting ground for FACH AUTO TECH. After an error-free performance, all three drivers from the Sattel-based team secured championship points. Florian Latorre only just missed out on a podium after finishing fourth.
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race around the twisting streets of Monte Carlo is undoubtedly the highlight of the calendar. “The circuit is unique and is very unforgiving for the drivers,” Team Principal Alex Fach said. “Our drivers rose to the challenge and managed to bring all the cars home. After a difficult start to the season in Barcelona, two top 10s and a podium in the Rookie classification is a big step in the right direction. We will be able to build on this result as the season progresses.”
Florian Latorre was the only FACH AUTO TECH driver with experience around the traditional circuit, but Porsche Junior Jaxon Evans and Kantadhee Kusiri both got to grips with the twists and turns in the Principality at their first attempt. Latorre showed that he was in good form with fourth position in qualifying, while Evans and Kusiri also qualified in the top 15.
Florian Latorre managed to defend his fourth place at the start, while Jaxon Evans and Kantadhee Kusiri battled for space towards the rear of the field. In the second half of the race, Porsche Junior Evans had to show quick reactions after another car slammed into the barriers right in front of him. Evans managed to avoid the collision, but the safety car was called out to recover the stricken car.
After the restart, rookie Kantadhee Kusiri benefited from errors from some of his competitors and managed to finish eleventh after a strong performance. This also translated to second place and a maiden podium in the Rookie classification on just his second Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup appearance.
Jaxon Evans crossed the line in ninth after 16 laps and had a solid top 10 finish to celebrate. Florian Latorre’s fourth position rounded off the strong team performance from FACH AUTO TECH.
The next race takes place from 28 to 30 June, when the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg plays host to the Austrian Grand Prix.
