Two in one: Double podiums at season opener

Brilliant start to the new season: FACH AUTO TECH underlined its ambitions for top positions in the 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup, securing two podium finishes at the opening weekend in Spa-Francorchamps. Christopher Zöchling crossed the finish line in third place in both races, while his teammates complemented the performance with further top results.

With a haul of 32 points, Zöchling was one of the top finishers in Belgium. He owes this success, above all, to his fighting spirit in the decisive final minutes of the race. Starting from third place in both races, he managed to hold his own against the attacks of his pursuers until the end. Naturally, the relief after crossing the finish line was all the greater: ” I’m overjoyed with such a fantastic start to the season,” enthused the 33-year-old. “The team has done a sterling job and we’ve made a clear statement in the series. Things can definitely continue this way!”

Sandro Kaibach experienced how tough battles are inevitable in the Porsche Carrera Cup. After retiring from the first race due to a collision, he had to make it to the end of the second race unscathed and aim for the head of the field. The German withstood continuous pressure from his rivals and ultimately secured sixth place.

Christof Langer proved to be in impressive form as well. At the wheel of the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, the Pro-Am driver delivered plenty of excitement and came home in seventh place in both races. “Being back on the track and pushing through against strong opponents was something I missed so much,” said a delighted Langer.

Next up, the series returns to Germany and the supporting program of the ADAC GT Masters. The second round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will take place from 13 to 15 May at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
