Top result in maiden race with biofuel

A fourth place by Christopher Zöchling and valuable insights regarding innovative fuels: Team principal Alex Fach is happy with his squad’s haul at the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup’s first race of the season in Monaco.

“This season opener was something to behold,” says Alex Fach. “Everyone was curious to see how our first race with the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and the new fuel would go. Now we have confirmation – it went really well. To finish fourth in both qualifying and the race is a decent result for Monaco. A big thank you to the entire team and our partners for the support!”

It was almost enough for the podium. For long stretches of the race, Christopher Zöchling exerted tremendous pressure on the man in front of him, Dorian Boccolacci. “I was faster, but overtaking is one of those things here,” said the 33-year-old. “If you take too many risks, you quickly end up in the wall in Monaco and ultimately go home empty-handed.”

Marius Nakken in the sister car finished in twelfth place. Teammate Maxime Boulin, on the other hand, had to retire the car early. The Frenchman, who celebrated his debut in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, was forced to end the race prematurely after having had contact with an opponent.

The fact that two of the three cars entered by FACH AUTO TECH made it to the finish was anything but certain. Right at the beginning, several cars collided at the Beau Rivage section, resulting in an interruption of the race. As it progressed, there were further incidents on the demanding street circuit on the Côte d’Azur.

The next round will be held at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Due to a calendar adjustment, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will make two guest appearances in Styria. These two rounds will be held on 27 June and 4 July.
