Podium dreams at the “Festival of Dreams” shattered

Close races and tough duels: The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland once again demanded all the skills of the FACH AUTO TECH drivers. Young talent Morris Schuring was in strong form at the Hockenheimring. In the end, fourth place was just short of the hoped-for podium finish.

“The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland is known for its tough racing. In this field, a fourth place is a good result,” said team principal Alex Fach. “But I’m still disappointed. We really wanted to finish on the podium and for a long time it looked like we would do so. Morris slipping into the gravel was therefore all the more bitter.”

Schuring started Sunday’s race from third on the grid and was in contention for the top 3 from the start, with the 18-year-old fending off numerous attacks from rival Larry ten Voorde. However, with just under 18 minutes to go, the podium dreams were shattered: a slip into the gravel dropped the Dutchman back to 16th place. “Of course, that’s really frustrating. I really wanted this podium today. At least in tenth place I still collected points for the championship,” explained Schuring, who had also scored points the day before in fourth place.

Teammate Alexander Fach also secured two top 10 results in the two races. On Saturday, however, more than eighth place would have been possible. “Shortly before the end of the race, another car touched me. I didn’t lose the car, but I lost a few places in the process,” said the Schwyz-based driver, who finished seventh in Sunday’s race.

Jasin Ferati finished 14th and 17th in the races. The young driver proved that he has what it takes to reach positions in the front of the field with the eleventh fastest time in practice. Ferati also added to his points tally in the rookie classification. The “Festival of Dreams”, an event celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Porsche brand, provided the perfect backdrop. Thousands of visitors came to sunny Hockenheim to party.

The next Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland race weekend is scheduled for 23 to 25 June at the Circuit Zandvoort. Season rounds five and six are scheduled at the Formula 1 circuit.
