FACH AUTO TECH put together a strong performance at the third round of the ADAC GT Masters (12-14 July) at the Nürburgring. The team utilised all their experience in endurance racing to secure a class win in the first endurance race of the season. Alexander Fach and Alexander Schwarzer also shone in the weekend’s sprint race.
“This weekend was a real rollercoaster ride for us,” said Alexander Fach. “Our first qualifying session didn’t quite go to plan, and we had to start the race from the back of the grid. But after that everything was on point. My teammate made a great start on Saturday and moved up through the field. Our tyre strategy really paid off and we were able to catapult ourselves up by eleven positions.”
All in all, the pair of Alexanders came home in eighth position after the 80-minute endurance round of the ADAC GT Masters, securing a class victory in the Pro-Am classification in the process. The two FACH AUTO TECH drivers picked up where they left off on Sunday, demonstrating just as much courage and bravery as they did on Saturday – but with a big slice of drama to go with it. Fighting for the overall lead, Alexander Schwarzer was involved in a small collision and sent into a spin.
“I took over the car in the lead and soon came under some major pressure by the cars behind me,” said Schwarzer. “I survived the first bit of contact from behind, but the second one was a big hit. I didn’t have any chance to prevent the spin and got passed by a number of cars as a result. I just wanted to get back on track and make the best out of a bad situation.”
The best was ultimately seventh position in the overall classification, which can be considered a solid finish. Team principal Alex Fach was happy with another top-10 success for his squad: “That was a great weekend, not just for me, also for the entire crew. We made use of our wealth of experience in endurance and sprint racing to finish really well in both races. I would like to thank all of our partners for making it possible for us to compete this season. We are definitely on the right track.”
The next stop on the calendar for FACH AUTO TECH is Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for the next round of the ADAC GT Masters from 30 August to 1 September.
