The final stop on the 2024 ADAC GT Masters calendar saw the teams travel to Hockenheim from 18 to 20 October for the last two races of the season. And FACH AUTO TECH ended the year on a high thanks to a first and a third in the Pro-Am classification, as Alexander Fach and Alexander Schwarzer secured the title.
“It was a challenging year for us, but also hugely educational,” said team principal Alex Fach. “We learned a lot about the car but also the championship. The victories and podium finishes are a testament to how strongly we performed over the course of the year.”
Alexander Fach and Alexander Schwarzer were one of just a handful of bronze-silver-rated driver pairings in the field and had to fight against higher-rated silver duos. But they took on the challenge masterfully, with second places overall in Zandvoort and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps demonstrating their quality. At the season finale at the Hockenheimring, the duo just missed out on another overall podium by finishing fourth.
In the Pro-Am category, Fach and Schwarzer quite simply dominated the season in their #4 Porsche 911 GT3 R. They picked up no fewer than eight class wins and three class podiums, including the win and podium at the season finale.
“We can definitely be happy with our season,” Alexander Fach said after Sunday’s race. “We have taken a massive step forward compared to the start of the year and continued to close the gap to the top teams. For Alexander Schwarzer, racing in such a highly professional championship was a completely new experience. For me, it was my first year in a GT3 car and that wasn’t always easy. We learned a great deal and I hope we can build on that next year.”
