The ADAC GT Masters season opener at the Lausitzring was a real test of character for FACH AUTO TECH. But the team from the Swiss canton of Schwyz showed that they were more than up to the challenge, securing two top 10 finishes. With fourth place in Saturday’s race, Alexander Fach and Alexander Schwarzer only just missed out on the overall podium while securing the win in class.
“The start to the season was anything but straightforward for us,” said team principal Alex Fach. “We had a few issues to contend with, which cost us quite a lot of time during the test and free practice sessions, so we were lacking some data. However, the team showed that they never give up, and were rewarded for their efforts with fourth.”
Fach and Schwarzer showed as much perseverance on the track as the team showed in the pit garage, securing a promising position for race one by going fifth-fastest in the first qualifying session. The pair then successfully defended a good position in the race in their #4 Porsche 911 GT3 R. After an impressive performance, Fach crossed the line in fourth place, taking the win in the ProAm classification.
“I want to say a big thanks to my team, as it was thanks to their hard work that we were so competitive this weekend,” said Alexander Fach. “Obviously it’s a bit of a shame that we just missed out on the podium, but given the circumstances I think we can be happy with fourth.”
The Porsche duo showed just as much fight on Sunday. In a chaotic, rain-affected race, the FACH AUTO TECH drivers took the chequered flag in tenth overall, securing another class win.
The next stop on the calendar for the Swiss team is the second round of the ADAC GT Masters at Circuit Zandvoort in the Netherlands from 6 to 8 June.
