The previous Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race turned out to be an absolute non-starter – the race was stopped less than halfway through, which meant no points – so from 2 to 4 August FACH AUTO TECH head for the Hungaroring. After the adjournment, drivers Florian Latorre, Jaxon Evans and Kantadhee Kusiri are all the more keen to have their say in the next title fight.
It will be the season’s fifth round and the Sattel team is aiming for another repeat of 2018’s top 3 result. Mid-season is the time that decides whether the young Frenchman Latorre can achieve his target of a podium in the overall classification. Ranking just three points behind third place, it looks as though this is far from improbable.
Jaxon Evans is heading for the weekend with high hopes too. “We’ve taken more steps in the right direction, now we just have to get our act together in the race”, said the optimistic New Zealander. Following his previous strong performance, the Porsche driver will do all he can to finally clinch his first podium of the season on the circuit near Budapest.
FACH AUTO TECH’s third driver, Kantadhee Kusiri, also looks forward to what’s considered to be a technically demanding track. The native Thai ranks fourth in the rookie class with five races down. Due to the Hockenheim race’s early red-flagging, he missed out on valuable points and hopes to win them on the narrow and winding Hungaroring.
“The Hockenheimring disappointment has made us even more determined to transform our performance into a podium success. In addition, we hope that this time the Hungary race will be decided by genuine racing and not by endless safety car periods”, said Team Principal Alex Fach.
The race starts on Sunday, 4 August at 12:40. Eurosport 1 will air the race live on Free-TV.
