Back on the road to success: Second place at the Sachsenring

Third podium success of the season, fastest lap of the race and good points for the championship: with a second- and a fourth-place finish, Christopher Zöchling had enough reasons to be happy after the two Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland races. FACH AUTO TECH teammate Sandro Kaibach also collected important points with twelfth and sixth places at the Sachsenring.

“We laid the foundations in qualifying this weekend,” explains team principal Alex Fach. “In the races, the guys turned their good starting positions into plenty of points thanks to a lot of perseverance and clever driving. We go to the finale in Hockenheim feeling content.”

A successful start by Zöchling made the podium finish possible. Having started from third place, the Austrian immediately took the lead in turn two. “To lead the field is of course a great feeling,” said the 33-year-old happily after the race. “After the restart it was not enough to defend first place, but to be on the podium again after the difficult last races is still a great feeling.”

That he would be back climbing the rostrum, Zöchling made everyone aware of in Saturday’s race at the Sachsenring. Keeping his head cool and with great persistence, Zöchling finished fourth in the first race of the weekend.

Sandro Kaibach in the sister car was equally strong. After scoring points on Saturday, the Porsche driver even improved on the solid result. “I can be satisfied with sixth place,” Kaibach sums up. “The last races weren’t easy – such a top 8 result definitely feels good. Now it is our goal to go one better at the finale in Hockenheim.”

Christof Langer in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup #28 completes the strong team result on the racetrack in Saxony with two seventh places in the ProAm classification.

The next stop of the one-make series is the Hockenheimring. The finale of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany takes place there from 22 to 24 October. Zöchling goes into the last race weekend of the season fifth in the standings.
