Solid results in Hungary

Two top 10 finishes for FACH AUTO TECH at the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup visit to Hungary: while Morris Schuring, the best-placed driver of the team from the Swiss town of Sattel, finished seventh, teammate Alexander Fach finished ninth. Gustav Burton once again ran out of luck in the race.

Despite valuable points for the championship, Morris Schuring was not completely satisfied with his performance at the Hungaroring. “We made the most of our pace, I am happy about that,” said the 18-year-old Dutchman. “But what I’m not happy about is our pace. This has a negative effect, especially on a track where it is difficult to overtake. We are working on that and will do better at the next race.”

Schuring started from eighth place and made up one position during the 16-lap race. Teammate Alexander Fach, on the other hand, finished ninth in the same place from which he started the race. In the final phase, the young driver from Switzerland’s Schwyz lost a better position.

Gustav Burton, meanwhile, was well on his way to secure a podium finish in the rookie classification – at least until lap six when a collision through no fault of his own cost him a top result. The 20-year-old took it with humour: “I braked for turn 12, but Leon Köhler didn’t,” joked the Brit. “As a result, I was hit by him and pushed into the run-off zone. I lost a lot of ground as a result.”

Instead of the top 10 finish he had hoped for, he only finished 15th.“It’s disappointing for sure, but situations like this are part of the Supercup. Of course, I would still have liked to have taken the rookie podium. At Spa we will have a new chance to do that,” said Burton.

Only a week after the Hungarian Grand Prix a visit to the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is on the schedule. The race in the Belgian Ardennes takes place on Sunday 30 July.
