FACH AUTO TECH taste podium champagne with second-place finish

The ADAC GT Masters weekend in Zandvoort couldn’t have ended any better for FACH AUTO TECH. Alexander Fach and Alexander Schwarzer took second place in the second race of the weekend at Circuit Zandvoort (7 to 9 June), securing the team’s first podium finish of the season. The pair also impressed on Saturday with an eighth-placed finish.

“What a fantastic day,” said team principal Alex Fach. “Finishing on the podium in just the second race weekend is a brilliant achievement. Friday wasn’t too easy for us, but in the end we were rewarded for our hard work. I would like to say a big thank you to all of our friends, sponsors and partners who have played such a key role in this success.”

The result in race two was the perfect reward for the Sattel-based team’s battling performance in the fourth race of the season. Starting from twelfth on the grid, Fach and Schwarzer soon got to work moving up the field. “The pit stop was a key moment for us of course,” Alexander Fach explained. “I never thought I would be so close to the front afterwards, but we had the pace to challenge the leaders.” The 22-year-old made the decisive move for second position with just 12 minutes remaining on the race clock.

For Fach’s teammate Alexander Schwarzer, the race weekend in the Netherlands was all about gathering valuable experience at a track he had never raced at before. “The circuit is really challenging, but it was great fun to drive,” said the 35-year-old. “I tried to learn from the drivers around me. I was really nervous watching Alexander, but I knew he had what it takes to get a great result.”

Team principal Alex Fach was also proud of his Porsche drivers’ showing this weekend: “Zandvoort is certainly not a walk in the park. If you make an error here, you get punished straight away. Considering it was his first appearance here, Alexander really did a brilliant job. He learned more and more session by session and continuously improved his performance. The podium finish at the end of the weekend is the cherry on top.”

The next round of the ADAC GT Masters takes place from 12 to 14 July at the Nürburgring as part of the ADAC Truck Grand Prix weekend.
