FACH AUTO TECH travelled to the Red Bull Ring on the weekend of 27 to 29 September for the penultimate round of the ADAC GT Masters. After a challenging three days, Alexander Fach and Alexanders Schwarzer came home with a class podium and two top 12 finishes.
“That was not an easy weekend for us,” said team principal Alex Fach. “Not everything went to plan, so we are really happy that we got to taste the podium champagne. The field is very close, so you have to get everything right if you want to be at the sharp end.”
Free practice in Spielberg already hinted at the fact that it would be a challenging weekend for the squad. And that form continued into qualifying, with Fach and Schwarzer not able to secure the grid position they had hoped for in their #4 Porsche 911 GT3 R. For the races, however, the duo dug deep to put in a pair of strong performances. On Sunday, they rose six positions through the field and crossed the line in twelfth. They were rewarded for their perseverance with third in the Pro-Am classification.
Fach and Schwarzer were also able to make up a lot of ground in Saturday’s race, too. Starting from 18th on the grid, Fach kicked things off by bringing the FACH AUTO TECH Porsche in touch with the leading ground. Bronze-rated driver Alexander Schwarzer then took over the helm and picked up where Fach left off, matching the pace of numerous silver-rated drivers in the field and taking the chequered flag in eleventh.
“The team did a really great job this weekend, as did the drivers,” said team principal Alex Fach. “We really improved over the course of the weekend, and I think all in all we can be proud of our performance.”
The next round of the ADAC GT Masters is the season finale at the Hockenheimring from 18 to 20 October.
