HOPES OF PODIUM FINISH IN SPA DASHED

The FACH AUTO TECH squad experienced two very instructive races on the Belgian Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Josh Webster and Matt Campbell started from midfield in both races and had to fight heavily with numerous attacks before finishing outside the Top 3. Glauco Solieri finished Saturday’s race third in the B classification and achieved a further podium finish.

After a difficult qualifying performance with unstable weather conditions, FACH AUTO TECH’s podium ambitions turned into a real challenge. Matt Campbell and Josh Webster already had to defend themselves in Saturday’s race against numerous attacks by competitors and saw the chequered flag in sixth (Campbell) and ninth place (Webster).

Glauco Solieri delivered a very respectable performance in the B classification. The Swiss driver started the Saturday race from third on the grid and was able to ward off all attacks, securing himself a podium third for the second time in a row.

“It’s really terrific to be standing on the podium again”, said a happy Solieri after the Saturday race. “Right in this critical stage of the Porsche Supercup, each point is valuable. Reaching third place twice in a row puts me in a good starting position for the final championship battle.”

Several safety-car-phases made overtaking an especially tricky task in the Sunday race. Finally, Matt Campbell and Josh Webster secured themselves fifth and tenth places and further important team championship points. Glauco Solieri had to retire early from the second race after technical problems.

“The weekend was far from ideal”, team manager Alex Fach sums up. “Spa is actually one of our best circuits, but this time we had to admit defeat. Matt was quick on the track and he was able to make good laptimes, but it was not quite enough for a top position. We’ll be analyzing both races closely, so that we are well-equipped for the European Final in Monza.”

The ninth out of eleven races of the season is scheduled for Sunday 3rd September on the Autodromo Nazionale Monza – just seven days after the race weekend in Spa-Francorchamps.
