FACH AUTO TECH flies to victory in Principality

FACH AUTO TECH achieved a perfect weekend in Monaco. After a first in qualifying, Nick Yelloly clinched the Sattel team’s first victory of the season. Jaap van Lagen and Christof Langer rounded off the fantastic team performance with an overall fourth and a second place in the ProAm class. Thanks to the Monaco success Alex Fach’s team could expand their lead in the team standings.

Drivers in the Principality delivered an exciting race right from the start of the second Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup edition. Nick Yelloly got off to a good start from pole and led into the first bend. The Brit then turned one fast lap after another and secured a confident start-finish victory.

Jaap van Lagen also made good headway from fifth grid spot and grabbed an early position, but despite a fast and solid lap performance, the gap to the Top 3 was too big to close. However, competitors were unable to jeopardise the Dutchman’s fourth place.

Teammate Christof Langer also confirmed his good opening weekend form on the narrow guardrail-lined Monaco circuit. The German started the race from 21st and maintained this position on the challenging street racetrack until the end. As in Barcelona, Langer claims second on the ProAm class rostrum.

Yelloly had already laid the foundations for this sensational success during qualifying. The Brit secured the season’s probably most important pole position and defended it throughout the entire race. Even though Ammermüller in second position put intense pressure on Yelloly over the last four laps, the German from the BWT Lechner Racing team couldn’t get past the 27-year old. This is Yelloly’s first international one-make cup win. After van Lagen’s podium finish in Barcelona, FACH AUTO TECH celebrates its first victory of the season in the Principality of Monaco.

A glimpse at the points table confirms FACH AUTO TECH made one of the biggest hauls of the weekend and the racing team collected a total of 34 points with first and fourth places. This expands the team’s leadership in the competitive one-make cup’s team standings. Yelloly’s debut win catapulted him to second place in the driver rankings, level on points with teammate van Lagen. German Christof Langer too has every reason to be pleased and returns home from Monaco as standings runner-up in the ProAm class.

“We are very happy about this whole weekend. That Nick takes our first win of the season here in Monaco is sensational! The whole team really did an outstanding job this weekend and it was rewarded with two podiums today. It’s great that it worked out in Monaco of all places. Winning here is always something very special. This is our third success after 2015 and 2016”, says Alex Fach happily. “Christof’s performance was unbelievable again. He has shown an incredible performance so far on both weekends and is increasing his performance enormously from race to race”, said the team boss proudly.

After two thrilling races, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup takes a break until the end of June. The third round of the international one-make trophy is scheduled for 29 June to 1 July on the Austrian Red Bull Ring.
