The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup grand finale is scheduled for 26 to 28 October at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico and for FACH AUTO TECH nothing less than the championship title is at stake. With just two races remaining, Nick Yelloly ranks second in the standings.
The gap to the lead is conceivably small prior to the season’s finale and a mere five points lie between the 27-year-old and the frontrunner Michael Ammermüller (119 points). Fourty points are up for grabs in the two races to come – a real head-to-head race. With only nine points separating second and third place, this gap is just as small. So, the weekend promises a lot of excitement and Yelloly will do everything to take the title home.
Dutchman Jaap van Lagen ranks seventh in the overall classification and can no longer battle for this year’s honours, but he’s aiming for a top result and hopes to finish the season on a positive note. And at the same time to provide his team mate valuable support in the fight for the driver title. Third pilot in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will be the young Canadian Roman de Angelis.
Signs look promising for the Sattel squad: the 4,3 kilometre track in Mexico City was an extremely good hunting ground for the team in 2017. FACH AUTO TECH driver Matt Campbell won both races at the track’s premiere on the Supercup calendar. Team mate Glauco Solieri also stepped onto Saturday’s rostrum, having clinched third place in the B-class.
The first race begins in Mexico on Saturday 27 October at 15:00 local time (22:00 Swiss time). The last race of the 2018 season follows on 28 October at 10:15 local time (17:15 Swiss time). Eurosport offers live coverage of Saturday’s race from 21:45 and on Sunday from 17:15.
