The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race on 26 May will be a special one for FACH AUTO TECH: the legendary Monaco Street Circuit is venue for the Sattel team’s participation in the second round of the international one-make trophy. The Swiss have been continuously successful in the Principality with three victories in four years and Jaxon Evans, Florian Latorre and Kantadhee Kusiri intend to continue the success story in 2019.
For years, the season highlight of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup calendar has been a particularly good hunting ground for team boss Alex Fach’s squad, which celebrated its first win in Monaco with Jaap van Lagen in 2015. Matteo Cairoli followed in 2016 and Nick Yelloly secured the win on the city circuit in 2018, after having laid the triumph’s foundations during qualifying.
The Brit started from pole position and began a teeth-clenching battle with the eventual Supercup champion Michael Ammermüller all the way to the finish line, where he ultimately clinched a brilliant victory.
Two of the FACH AUTO TECH drivers, Jaxon Evans and Kantadhee Kusiri, have never driven in Monaco before. However, Florian Latorre took part in the 2018 international one-make trophy and claimed a Rookie class second in the Principality. Sights are obviously more than ever set on a top finish.
“In the past, our performance in Monaco was constantly outstanding and we aim to build on that in 2019. The track isn’t an easy one and the city always has a very unique atmosphere”, Alex Fach explained. “Qualifying on the tight city circuit is decisive and securing a good starting position is vital for chances of a top race result.”
As usual, the Monaco race weekend starts on Thursday with the Free Practice session. Green light for the race is on Sunday, 26 May at 10:30.
